Hafiz Konkoni, the talented striker from Bechem United, has revealed that Hearts of Oak board member Alhaji Akambi and defender Samuel Inkoom have been actively reaching out to him with the aim of bringing him to the Phobians.
Hearts of Oak, who had a disappointing season in the 2022/2023 Ghana Premier League, are determined to strengthen their squad for better performance in the upcoming season, and they have set their sights on acquiring the highly-regarded striker.
In an interview with GhanaSportspage, the Black Stars striker confirmed that negotiations are currently underway and expressed his pleasure at being in direct contact with Alhaji Akambi, who has displayed a keen interest in securing his signature for the club.
“Yes, we are still negotiating. Alhaji Akambi is playing a key role. He wants me to come and help the team, and I feel proud of that. It’s not easy for someone of Alhaji Akambi’s stature to constantly contact you,” he stated.
Konkoni also mentioned that Hearts of Oak defender Samuel Inkoom has been actively engaged in discussing how joining the club would benefit him.
“Samuel Inkoom is also playing a crucial role. He has been calling me regularly, telling me about the great work done by Accra Hearts of Oak and how the move would be advantageous for me. His consistent communication at his level is impressive, and his love for the club and the way he talks about it is something I greatly appreciate,” Konkoni added.
While negotiations are still ongoing, Konkoni expressed his gratitude for the efforts made by both Alhaji Akambi and Samuel Inkoom. However, he remains cautious about the final outcome and whether or not he will ultimately join the club.
“It’s good, but let’s see what happens because we’re still in negotiations. I can’t say for sure at the moment whether I will play for them, but talks have progressed. Inkoom is doing a fantastic job,” he concluded.
With his impressive goal-scoring record of 15 goals in the league last season, Hafiz Konkoni could potentially be Hearts of Oak’s first signing as they aim to address their striker shortage.
