Government constructing state-of-the-art multi-purpose stadium in New Edubiase – Sports minister

Ghana’s Youth and Sports Minister Isaac Kwame Asiamah has disclosed that the country’s government is constructing a state-of-the-art multi-purpose sports complex in New Edubiase to aid sports development in the Ashanti Region.

The practicable sector minister made this known during an exclusive interview with Patrick Osei Agyemang on Adom TV’s Fire for Fire Sports show on Tuesday 22^nd September 2020.

Hon. Asiamah mentioned that remodeling and redesigning works have already been completed at the theoretical level.

The NPP-led government has taken over the construction of the New Edubiase stadium which was started under former President John Dramani Mahama’s administration in the capital of Adansi South, a district in the Ashanti region.

The work has taken a political twist as officials of the opposition National Democratic Congress – NDC have accused the current government of abandoning the project to the weakening of sports development in the country.

But the visionary minister has swiftly dismissed their claims, stating that government had to engage in remodeling and redesigning of the original plan which was publicized by the erstwhile Mahama government.

“The previous design and look was not useful for purpose. So when we took over we had to remodel and redesign the New Edubiase stadium to become fit for purpose. All the measurement and size of the initial plan by the previous government was wrong and it was not fit for purpose. Interestingly while Nii Lante Vanderpuije was out there granting interview about the state of the Edubiase stadium contractors were on site working base on our designed and remodeled plans,” said the minister.

Hon Isaac Asiamah has been in office for almost four years and is currently branded as the best sports minister the country has ever had taking into consideration his exemplary leadership skills.

His enviable working ethics and achievement has made it very difficult for President Akufo-Addo to reshuffle him as several ministers have been moved to different offices since the NPP government was voted into office.
