Ghanaian striker Antoine Semenyo opened his account for the new season by netting a late equalizer for AFC Bournemouth in their match against Nottingham Forest.
The Black Stars forward, starting the game for the Cherries, struck with just four minutes left on the clock to level the score after the hosts took an early lead.
Nottingham Forest had taken the lead in the 23rd minute through Chris Wood. Bournemouth thought they had equalized shortly after the half-hour mark when Burkina Faso international Dango Ouattara found the back of the net, but the goal was disallowed following a VAR review.
Despite this setback, Bournemouth maintained their pressure, and Semenyo’s persistence paid off in the dying minutes of the game when he fired in a close-range shot to secure a hard-earned draw.
With the departure of Dominic Solanke to Tottenham Hotspur this summer, Semenyo is expected to step up and fill the gap, despite the addition of Evanilson from FC Porto. Last season, Semenyo found the net eight times in the English Premier League.
