In the French Ligue 1, RC Lens secured a 2-1 win against Olympique Marseille on Saturday, guaranteeing Ghanaian midfielder Salis Abdul Samed European football for next season.
The win ensures that no matter what happens in their remaining four games, Lens will at least play in the UEFA Europa Conference League qualifiers. Although Samed was absent from the match due to a suspension, he will be eager to contribute to his team’s success in the upcoming European competitions.
Despite his absence, Lens managed to secure a crucial win in the Round 34 clash at the Stade Bollaert-Delelis Park, with Seko Fofana and Lois Openda scoring in the 42nd and 60th minutes respectively.
Although Dimitri Payet scored a goal for Marseille in the 88th minute, the visitors failed to equalize in the remaining minutes of the game.
The victory places Lens in second place in the Ligue 1 standings with 72 points, three points behind leaders Paris Saint-Germain, who will play against Troyes on Sunday.
