Ghanaian midfielder Abdul Majeed Ashimeru has expressed his joy after starting the season with a victory, following his impressive performance in Anderlecht’s win over Saint Truiden in the Belgian topflight league.
The Black Stars midfielder, who had limited appearances for the club due to an injury sustained during the Africa Cup of Nations in Ivory Coast, made a strong return to the starting lineup for the season opener.
Ashimeru shone in midfield, efficiently winning and distributing passes as Anderlecht controlled the match at the Lotto Park. Mario Stroeykens, who came on as a substitute for Ashimeru with 13 minutes left, scored the decisive goal with the last kick of the game.
“An Important +3 to begin the season with!!! Let’s keep going, Anderlecht. God Alone,” wrote an enthusiastic Ashimeru on social media after the match.
The former Red Bull Salzburg player is expected to play a significant role for Anderlecht this season after being rewarded with a contract extension.
