Ghanaian midfielder Lawrence Agyekum expressed disappointment following his league debut for Cercle Brugge in Belgium, which ended in a defeat to Westerlo.
The former WAFA player joined Cercle Brugge during the summer transfer window and was making his second competitive appearance for the club, having previously featured in the Europa League qualifiers against Kilmarnock last week.
Agyekum started the match alongside compatriot Francis Abu, but Brugge suffered a 3-0 loss at the Het Kuipje stadium. Reflecting on the game, Agyekum posted on X: “Mixed emotions after losing the first league game of the season, but proud to have made my debut. We live to fight another day.”
The 20-year-old is anticipated to play a significant role in Cercle Brugge’s campaign, given their participation in both domestic and European competitions.
Cercle Brugge is set to host Kilmarnock on Thursday for the second leg of their Europa League qualifiers, with the first leg having ended in a 1-1 draw in Scotland.
