Dutch-born Ghanaian striker Jonathan Opoku’s solitary goal clinched all three points for VVV Venlo against FC Emmen on Saturday evening.
The 29-year-old Ghanaian international scored his third goal of the season in the Eredivisie for VVV Venlo as they beat FC Emmen to move out of relegation zone temporarily.
Opoku, headed in Tobias Pachonik’ cross in the 7th minute to give the Yellow and Blacks the lead.
Peter Van Ooijen hit the crossbar inside 33 minutes when he was brilliantly set up by Opoku but the Dutchman’s fine effort was inches away from making it two to the home team.
He however,was subbed in the 67th minute.
Peter Van Ooijen’s 96th minute goal ensured a well deserved win for the home side.
VVV Venlo’s 2-0 win over Emmen was their fifth victory of the season and are three points clear of the automatic relegation zone with a total of 15 points from 16 matches.
