Leeds United is reportedly on the verge of finalizing a deal to secure the services of Ghanaian youth defender Nathaniel Adjei.
The 21-year-old, who gained attention with his standout performances for Hammarby IF in the Swedish Allsvenskan, has been a sought-after talent in the January transfer market.
Several English Championship clubs, including Rangers and Celtic, had shown interest in Adjei, but Leeds United entered the race last month. After formal inquiries, it was revealed that the player is valued at approximately £3 million.
Recent reports indicate that representatives from Leeds United engaged in discussions with Hammarby IF earlier this week regarding the potential transfer. Hammarby IF has reportedly maintained their stance on allowing Adjei to leave for the specified £3 million.
Negotiations have progressed positively, and Leeds United is expected to finalize the agreement in the coming days. Manager Daniel Farke has expressed uncertainty about Charlie Cresswell’s return, contributing to the club’s eagerness to secure Adjei’s transfer.
Adjei, who represented the Black Meteors in the 2023 African qualifying tournament for the 2024 Paris Olympic Games, made a notable impact despite Ghana falling short in securing a spot in the competition.
The defender also marked his European debut in the Europa Conference League for Hammarby IF last season.
