Ghanaian left-back Hamidu Abdul Fatawu has signed for Algerian Ligue 1 newcomers MB Rouissat on a free transfer after parting ways with Egyptian Premier League side Ghazl El Mahalla.
The 26-year-old ended his time with El Mahalla at the close of the 2024/25 season, having made 22 appearances in all competitions. His steady defensive work, coupled with his ability to support the attack, made him a standout performer during his one-year stint in Egypt’s top flight.
Abdul Fatawu moved to El Mahalla in July 2024 after impressing for Medeama SC in the CAF Champions League. His commanding displays on the continental stage showcased his pace, tactical awareness, and composure, earning him a first move abroad.
Later in 2024, he marked his Ghana senior national team debut with an assured performance in the Black Stars’ 3-1 victory over Liberia — a display that underlined his status as one of the country’s dependable options at left-back.
At MB Rouissat, Abdul Fatawu brings both international pedigree and top-flight experience to a side preparing for their first-ever campaign in Algeria’s elite division. His versatility and relentless work rate are expected to be key assets as the club seeks to establish itself in the league.
