Berekum Chelsea continued their unbeaten streak in the 2023/24 Ghana Premier League with a hard-fought 1-0 win over newly-promoted Young Apostles FC on Sunday.
The match, played at the Golden City Park in Berekum, saw the home side dig deep to secure all three points against a determined Apostles side.
The first half was evenly contested, with both teams displaying moments of promise. Despite their newcomer status, Young Apostles gave Chelsea a tough challenge, making them work hard for every opportunity. However, Chelsea’s defense remained solid, frustrating the visitors’ efforts to break through while creating a few chances of their own.
As the second half unfolded, Chelsea began to assert more control, driven by their desire to maintain their unbeaten start to the season. Their persistence paid off when Mizack Afriyie found the back of the net with a well-placed strike, giving Chelsea the crucial lead.
Although Young Apostles pushed for an equalizer in the closing stages, Chelsea’s defense held firm, securing another important victory. Afriyie’s decisive goal cemented Chelsea’s place as one of the early frontrunners in the league, extending their unbeaten run to five matches.
