Medeama SC staged an impressive comeback to claim a 3-1 victory over Bechem United in an exciting Ghana Premier League encounter at the TnA Stadium in Tarkwa on Sunday.
Bechem United made an early statement in the match, taking the lead in the 6th minute when Darlvin Yeboah pounced on a defensive error to find the back of the net. However, Medeama responded swiftly, with Bernardinho Tetteh equalizing in the 16th minute. The home side maintained control of possession but found it difficult to penetrate Bechem United’s defensive setup for the remainder of the first half.
The breakthrough for Medeama came in the second half when Michael Sarpong finished off a well-constructed team move in the 67th minute to put his side ahead. Bechem United increased their attacking efforts in search of an equalizer, but Medeama’s defense stood firm. The victory was sealed in stoppage time when Kelvin Nkrumah took advantage of a counterattack, netting the third goal in the 94th minute to secure the win.
Medeama dominated possession with 52%, recording 21 goal attempts and eight shots on target, while Bechem United managed only two shots on goal. Despite earning more corners (9-5), Bechem struggled to capitalize on their opportunities.
This win marks back-to-back victories for Medeama, propelling them to sixth place in the league standings. Meanwhile, Bechem United’s second consecutive defeat sees them drop to seventh place.
