Medeama SC completed a season double over Basake Holy Stars with a 2-1 victory at the TnA Stadium in Tarkwa on Tuesday afternoon, replicating their first-round triumph.
Basake Holy Stars started the game strongly and broke the deadlock in the 28th minute when midfielder Issah Yakubu found the net. However, Medeama responded just before halftime, with defender Kamaradini Mamudu equalizing in stoppage time.
The home side dominated the second half and continued to press for the winner. Despite missing a penalty, Medeama controlled the game with 66% possession, 28 shots, and 11 corners. Their persistence paid off in the 89th minute when Derrick Fordjour scored to secure all three points.
The win temporarily lifts Medeama into the top four, though their position could change depending on Wednesday’s results. Meanwhile, Basake Holy Stars remain 13th on the table, six points away from safety as they fight to avoid relegation.
