Berekum Chelsea triumphed 2-1 over Bechem United in a hard-fought Bono derby at the Nana Fosu Gyeabour Park on Sunday, claiming the bragging rights in this fiercely contested encounter.
Chelsea got off to a flying start, taking the lead in the third minute through Vincent Adjei, who silenced the home crowd with an early goal. Bechem United responded positively and found their equaliser in the 30th minute through Darlvin Yeboah, making it 1-1.
However, the visitors regained their advantage just eight minutes later when Jonah Attuquaye finished off a quick counterattack to make it 2-1 before halftime.
Bechem United, eager to recover from their midweek defeat to Gold Stars, pushed hard in the second half for an equaliser. Despite their efforts, they could not break down Chelsea’s solid defensive line, leaving them with no further goals. The defeat, their second consecutive loss at home, sees Bechem drop to eighth in the standings, denting their top-four aspirations.
Chelsea, on the other hand, have moved up to ninth place, level on points with Bechem, and will look to carry this momentum into their next match against Nations FC. Bechem United will be hoping to bounce back when they travel to face Accra Lions in their upcoming fixture.
