Stoke City are making a surprise move for versatile Ghanaian international Tariqe Fosu from Premier League side Brentford in the ongoing summer transfer.
Michael O’Neill is set to sign the 26-year-old on a season-long loan after he passed a medical on Monday 15th August,2022, sportsworldghana.com can confirm.
Fosu has mostly played on the left wing but has also been used at wing-back, and at right-back, for club and Ghana.
He has also played as an attacking midfielder, second striker and on the right wing.
In terms of a left forward, Tyrese Campbell has primarily been when Stoke have used that role either in pre-season or switched during their opening games – but he has had more success on the right, where Jacob Brown has been preferred up to now.
But it is at right wing-back that Stoke are particularly vulnerable at the moment following a shin injury to Harry Clarke. Tom Sparrow stepped up for that position against Huddersfield at the weekend.
Fosu joined Brentford from Oxford in 2020 and played a starring role as they won promotion to the Premier League. His game time was then limited by injury and there was talk of a loan in January before he was linked with Strasbourg in the spring.
The talented winger is chasing more playing time to brighten his chances of making Ghana’s squad for the FIFA 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
