Ghana striker, Caleb Ekuban netted the winning goal for Genoa against Salernitana in the Coppa Italia on Tuesday night.
The attacker started upfront for his team against Salernitana in the Round 32 of the domestic cup competition this season.
In a game in which both sides put in a lot of effort in the first half, neither team managed to score, and the game went into halftime tied.
Genoa took total control of the game after recess as more players pushed forward in search of a goal.
Caleb Ekuban scored a stunning header from close range with 14 minutes remaining after jumping highest to meet a cross from youngster Yayah Kallon.
Despite a few more chances following the score, Genoa was unable to get a second equalizer, and the game ended with a 1-0 victory.
Genoa have, thus, sealed passage to the Round 16 stage of the Coppa Italian this season.
Caleb Ekuban, a former Leeds United attacker is expected to be named in Black Stars coach Milovan Rajevac’s squad for the 2022 AFCON in Cameroon in January.
