The captain of the Ghana Black Stars, Andre Ayew has said his goodbyes to Swansea City after the club confirmed his departure earlier this month.
The former Swansea winger was instrumental for the Welsh club in the just ended 2020/21 season, leading them to the Championship play-offs final which they eventually lost to Brentford.
Ayew scored 17 goals en route to the Jacks’ wonderful campaign however the objective for the season could not be achieved as they failed to make it to the Premier League.
The Ghana international posted a farewell message in a video on his social media, thanking the club for every opportunity he was given at the Liberty Stadium.
In the post captioned “Once a Jack always a Jack”, the forward said: I am here to say a goodbye since the final was a difficult period for us, so we had to stay a quiet a little bit.”
“I just wanted to let you guys know that I am so grateful for everything you have done for me. Thank you so much for the support, love. I came to the club three times and I have always succeeded thanks to you guys.”
“I want to thank the staff and coach Steve Cooper and everyone. I had a special feeling with the club and all the people around but it is time to say goodbye.”
Ayew is now a free agent after ending his relationship with the Swans and has already been linked with a return to the Premier League while Celtic are also said to be keen on his services.
