The president of the Ghana Football Association Mr. Kurt Simon Okraku, believes it will only take God’s intervention to bring Football back to normalcy in Ghana in the wake of the deadly coronavirus pandemic.
The country’s football governing body’s chief, was part of a panel discussing the effects of the COVID-19 on Sports organised by Happy FM and GTV Sports with the Sports Ministry, Sports Writers, and the Ghana Olympics committee as members of the panel.
All football activities Ghana, has been brought to a halt after the Government of Ghana suspended all sporting activities in March, and the FA President believes COVID-19 is a double difficulty for the FA as the Association had its own ‘COVID-18’ in the Anas exposè.
Mr Okraku, who was voted to lead Ghana football some six months ago, mentioned that the Football family is really feeling the heat of the pandemic as all activities has been brought to a scratching end.
“Just when our football was recovering then the world is hit with COVID19. The football industry has really suffered for the last three years. For us to recover again, God must intervene”. He said
The Ghana FA President maintained that the Ghanaian Football industry has suffered more than any other industry becuase the FA has not had a running calendar for the last two years which is affecting employment and finance.
“The football industry is one that has suffered a lot. We had our own ‘Covid-18’ because football activities had been canceled for close to two years, from employment to financial loses” he added.
