President the Ghana Football Association, Kurt Okraku has expressed his displeasure over the recent happenings of hooliganisms in football.
The Ghana Premier League as well as some matches in the lower tier have seen a rise in the case of attacks on referees as well as other natch officials during the 2020/21 season.
However, the head of the football association has condemned the actions of the group of people who have been engaged in such activities, adding that the surge in desire to win has been the rationale behind some of these things.
Speaking to 3Sports in an interview, Okraku said: “The FA completely objects any acts of hooliganism and violence.”
“When you deal with human beings and there is high level of competition and desire to win at all cost, sometimes people may go wayward.”
While commending that this year’s football has been competitive, the FA President also revealed that the association intends to hand punishments to people who have ‘taken the laws into their own hands’, stressing that it will take hard work among others to get rid of hooliganism.
“The FA has not rested in punishing people who have gone against the law. We intend to stay in that line,” he added.
“It will take hard work from the FA and good behaviours as well as good understanding of what football is all about by football fans and football administrators and a proactive action and reaction by the security agency.”
