Ghanaian defender Tariq Lamptey has opened up about his football inspirations, crediting Brazil and Barcelona legend Dani Alves as a major influence on his career.
During his official presentation at Fiorentina, the 23-year-old disclosed that Alves’ attacking style as a right-back shaped the way he approaches the game.
“I draw inspiration from Dani Alves,” Lamptey said, before revealing his ultimate idol. “I grew up watching him, but my idol is Ronaldinho.”
Lamptey sealed a four-year deal with Fiorentina in the summer after leaving English Premier League side Brighton & Hove Albion.
“Every team presents a different challenge, and that helps me grow as a player. Fiorentina have been following me since I was young—it’s a beautiful moment,” he noted.
He added that while there were other offers on the table, the Viola’s vision convinced him immediately:
“Yes, there were others, but when Fiorentina explained their project, I didn’t think twice. I wanted to come right away.”
The Black Stars full-back made his Serie A debut for Fiorentina last weekend in their clash against Napoli, marking the start of his Italian adventure.
