Ghana coach Otto Addo believes that playing against Madagascar on a neutral field could offer his team an edge.
In the Matchday six clash of the 2026 World Cup Qualifiers, the Black Stars will face the Barea at the Al Hoceima Grand Stadium in Morocco, with kick-off set for 19:00 GMT.
While he acknowledges that a neutral venue can work in their favor, Addo also warned about the potential mental pitfalls such conditions might create. He remarked,
“Should be [an advantage for us]. Actually yes [it’s an advantage for us] because it’s always not that easy if you play away [from home] and there are a lot of spectators but sometimes it’s also a trap, psychologically,”
and continued,
“Sometimes if you think [that] it’s not going to be a hot atmosphere, it’s kind of a trap and you give maybe one or two per cent less and for me…we have to be on our toes.”
After a resounding 5-0 win over Chad at the Accra Sports Stadium last week, Ghana is determined to keep their momentum against the Malagasy side as they aim to secure a fifth berth at the Mundial next year in the USA, Canada, and Mexico.
