Club Tijuana star Clifford Aboagye has earned a late call-up into the Black Stars for the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers doubleheader against Sudan, SPORTSworldGhana.com can exclusively report.
The Mexican-based attacking midfielder missed out of the initial squad announced by coach Charles Akonnor last week.
It is, however, unclear who the former Ghana U20 star replaces in the initial 23-man squad announced last week Friday but SPORTS WORLD GHANA understands that coach Akonnor has identified the intelligent attacker as the right man to replace Ajax Amsterdam star Mohammed Kudus who won’t be joining the team because of injury concerns after Jamie Leweling reportedly rejected an invitation to play for the Black Stars.

The former Ghana U20 starlet was instrumental for the Black Satellites during the 2013 and 2015 FIFA World Cups in Turkey and New Zealand respectively.
This will be the first time the 2013 FIFA U-20 World Cup third-best player is being invited into the Black Stars team.
Aboagye became the latest African import to join the Xolos in the transfer window as a free agent after his contract expiration at Atlas FC.

Meanwhile, Afriyie Acquah, Majeed Ashimeru have also been invited for the two games later this month.
Ghana, four-time African Champions lead Group C with 6 points following the two wins against South Africa and Sao Tome and Principe in November 2019.
