The Ghana Football Association (GFA) is finalizing a new $2 million broadcast agreement for the Ghana Premier League, set to commence with the 2025/26 season.
The league has been without a broadcast partner since the start of the ongoing 2024/25 campaign, following the expiration of the GFA’s deal with StarTimes TV. A source close to the GFA has confirmed that the new broadcaster has agreed to a two-year contract worth $2 million to televise the league.
The previous arrangement with StarTimes, which included coverage of the FA Cup and the Women’s Premier League, ended amid unresolved financial disputes. StarTimes still owes Premier League clubs $180,000 out of a total $950,000 due to the GFA. Under the previous deal, each club was expected to receive $30,000 per season, but StarTimes failed to fulfill its full payment obligations after delivering only the first two instalments.
The GFA is expected to officially unveil the new broadcaster once the current season concludes next month. The announcement is expected to bring renewed commercial value and visibility to the domestic league.
