Executive Council Member of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Frederick Acheampong, has expressed openness to André Dede Ayew’s potential return to the Black Stars for the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.
Speaking to Asempa FM, Acheampong highlighted Ayew’s consistent performances for French club Le Havre, noting that his recent form and goal contributions make him a viable option for selection.
“Ayew is one of the Black Stars’ most committed players. If he is playing top-level football in France and the coach needs him, why not? He has always shown commitment whenever given the opportunity,” Acheampong stated.
He also praised Ayew’s dedication to the national team, emphasizing that the veteran forward has always answered call-ups, regardless of the circumstances.
The 35-year-old has been in impressive form this season, scoring four goals in 17 matches, making him Ghana’s top scorer in the French league.
However, Black Stars head coach Otto Addo is yet to announce his squad for the upcoming qualifiers, leaving Ayew’s inclusion uncertain. Ghana will resume their 2026 World Cup qualifying campaign against Madagascar and Chad in March 2026.
