German-Ghanaian winger Jamie Leweling has committed his long-term future to VfB Stuttgart, signing a contract extension that keeps him at the club until 2029.
The announcement was made on Tuesday, highlighting Leweling’s growing importance to the Bundesliga side. The new deal includes a salary increase and removes a previous exit clause, which was reportedly valued between €20 million and €25 million.
Despite being sidelined with a thigh muscle injury, the 22-year-old remains focused on his recovery and eventual return to action.
VfB Stuttgart’s sporting director Fabian Wohlgemuth lauded Leweling’s contributions, saying:
“Jamie embodies much of what fans associate with VfB Stuttgart’s upward trajectory. His honest style of play, combined with his desire and ability to improve, has made him a fan favorite. Jamie has become a difference-maker for VfB, and his national team call-up reflects the impressive level he’s reached here in recent months.”
Leweling, grateful for the support he has received at the club, expressed his excitement about the extension:
“I know exactly what I have at VfB and am very happy about this contract extension. The coach, the club’s management, and everyone around the team have shown immense trust in me and have supported my development. I’m eager to get back on the pitch soon and continue from where I left off before my injury.”
Leweling’s extension solidifies his position as a key player for Stuttgart, who are enjoying a strong campaign in the Bundesliga.
