Georges-Kévin Nkoudou, the winger of the Cameroon national football team, has articulated the sole objective for his squad in the upcoming 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon) hosted in Ivory Coast – to clinch the trophy.
Despite being perceived as underdogs and not favored for the competition, Nkoudou exudes confidence in their pursuit of glory.
Cameroon, with a rich history of five-time victories in the Confederation of African Football (CAN), intends to leverage their underdog status strategically, reminiscent of their unexpected triumph in 2017.
In an exclusive interview with the FECAFOOT media, conducted within the intense training camp, Nkoudou emphatically expressed his ambitions for rewriting history.
He stated, “I want to win it, especially in Ivory Coast. We are Cameroon, and we must wear this jersey with pride, honor, and give our best on the pitch. There is no A + B, we have to go and win it; that’s our only objective.”
Asserting confidence in their group and individual talents, Nkoudou highlighted, “We have everything we need to get to the end. It’s true that when I hear that we are not cited as favorites, it’s even good like that (smile)”
“Because that’s how dangerous we are. For those who think that Cameroon will not go far, we must be careful.”
