Alidu Seidu, the talented defender from Clermont Foot, recently opened up about his tumultuous childhood in Kumasi, shedding light on a past marked by youthful recklessness.
The 23-year-old Black Stars defender confessed that, as a child, he was a troublemaker who engaged in fierce machete fights during local games.
Reflecting on his early years, Seidu admitted to a penchant for violence, sharing, “We fought with machetes when available if we lost area games.” His admission extended to a personal encounter with the dangerous consequences of such clashes. Seidu disclosed that he had once been struck with a machete, an incident that led to a prolonged hospital stay spanning three to four months. Miraculously, he managed to survive the harrowing experience.
During an interview with Ligue 1, Seidu painted a vivid picture of his younger self, saying, “I was a little kid who didn’t go to school much and was always looking for a place to play football. I was also a bit of a troublemaker.” His narrative unfolded, revealing a pattern of confrontations and skirmishes where he would either inflict harm or bear the brunt of it.
The defender candidly spoke about the influences that shaped his unruly behavior, stating, “Since I was always out, I would mimic the behaviors of others, and the older ones taught me how to become a troublemaker.” It was a cycle of mimicry and initiation into a lifestyle that thrived on conflict.
Despite the turbulence of his early years, Seidu underwent a transformative journey upon joining Clermont Foot four years ago.
