Former Ghana international Nii Odartey Lamptey has said that joining English Club Aston Villa was the was the worst decision in his football career.
Odartey Lamptey, one of Ghana’s most celebrated youth players had a complicated spell with the English Club after joining them on loan from Belgian side Anderlecht.
The attacker moved to England after spending five years with the Belgian giants, a dream move which eventually turned out to be very terrible .
The former FIFA U-17 World Cup winner only managed 10 appearances at Aston Villa without scoring even a goal.
Lamptey who is now into Coaching says he joined the English Club at the wrong time.
“The move to Aston Villa was the worst decision of my career that I still regret till today,” he told Atinka FM.
“The timing wasn’t right. The type of football in England didn’t suit me.”
The 1991 FIFA U17 World Cup winner also played for the likes of Coventry City Ankaragücü, Greuther Fürth and PSV.
