What a horrible season it is turning out to be for the Moroccan giants, Wydad Atletic. The Casablanca-based club is in turmoil after struggling since the commencement of the Moroccan Botola Pro season.
The Red Devils lost 3-1 to relegation-threatened side JS Soualem on Wednesday as the defeat leaves Wydad Casablanca in 4th in the table with first-placed team FAR Rabat extending their lead over Wydad to 12 points.
After the embarrassing defeat, the head coach Faouzi Benzarti, 74, decided to resign by ending his 4th stint with Wydad since 2018.
Wydad is now known for sacking coaches as they have had 5 coaches since January 2023. Mehdi Nafti, Juan Carlos Garrido, Sven Vandenbroeck, Adil Ramzi and Faouzi Benzarti have all been hired and fired in the last 13 months.
The Red Devils have won just 1 game in the last 8 by losing 4 and drawing 3 games.
Wydad Casablanca is bottom of Group B in the CAF Champions League as Asec Mimosas has qualified for the knockout phase so there’s only one slot left to fight for. They will travel to Jwaneng Galaxy and then host Asec Mimosas in their last two games in the CAF Champions League.
