Nkana FC coach Manfred Chabinga exchanged blows with a fan who had attacked him during the Zambian Super League champions’ 5-0 loss to Green Buffaloes at Nkoloma Stadium on Wednesday, November 18.
Reports from Lusaka say hell broke loose in the second-half after Nkana conceded their third goal by Martin Phiri in the 68th minute when a fan descended onto the pitch to beat up Chabinga using a chair.
In self-defence, Chabinga traded blows with the irate fan, before officiating personnel stopped the match for 17 minutes, according to Zamfoot website. Play resumed after Chabinga and his assistant were sent off for misconduct. They are likely to face further disciplinary action for engaging in the first fight.
Buffaloes won the match courtesy of Samu’s brace (24th, 54th minutes) and other goals from Phiri, Fredrick Mwimazi and You remember Banda to condemn the champions to their second loss in four games.
Buffaloes lie in sixth place with six points from four games whereas Nkana are on 10th place with four points from four games.
Elsewhere, Buildcon eased past Napsa Stars 2-0 to displace Forest Rangers at the summit of the 18-member log table with eight points from four games. The match took place at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium in Lusaka where Bildcon climbed up by four steps whereas Napsa are 13th with three points from four games.
Forest Rangers dropped to second place on goal aggregate as they also have eight points after playing out to a goalless draw with Young Green Eagles at Khosa Stadium.
Other big movers were Prison United who rose from fifth to third place with seven points following a 1-0 over Green Eagles at Presidential Stadium.
Prison are at par with four and fifth-placed Red Arrows and Green Eagles who have seven points each.
Kitwe United sit at the bottom of the league table with one point from four matches. The midweek matches involved only teams that will represent Zambia in CAF competitions.
