Black Satellites head coach Abdul Karim Zito has touched on his team’s preparations for the impending 2021 AFCON in Mauritania.
The Ghana Under 20 team will face Gambia, Morocco and Tanzania in Group B as they seek to secure a place in the world cup in Indonesia in July.
The experienced trainer emphasized that things are going well and he is really looking forward to the competition.
“So far so good, we started camping on the 16th January 2021 with 30 players. Preparations have started on the low for now. We played a game against an academy side NADAM Academy and beat them 3 – 1 . at Ghanaman Soccer Centre of Excellence.” Zito told SPORTSworldGhana.com.
“For the Group is not an easy one since every country there qualified on merit. Now other countries are fast into players development even though Ghana has the talent. But since we are representing West Africa, we shall do our best to live up to expectations by fighting for the ultimate.”
The certified youth development boss also revealed plans for the inclusion of foreign-based players to beef up the squad.
“Don’t forget with the U20 AFCON foreign players can be refused playing for their country but all the same we have asked for few to come down so we are waiting for the club’s response.” He added.
Ghana qualified for the tournament by winning the WAFU B tournament earlier this month in Niger.
