Ghanaian midfielder Eric Taylor found the back of the net for the first time this season, but his effort wasn’t enough to prevent Kongsvinger IL Toppfotball from exiting the Norwegian Cup on Tuesday, May 20.
Kongsvinger fell 3-2 to Rosenborg after extra time in a thrilling Round of 16 clash at the Gjemselund Stadion.
Taylor opened the scoring in the 32nd minute, finishing off a well-placed pass from Danish teammate Rasmus Christiansen. However, Rosenborg responded five minutes before halftime through Icelandic striker Isak Thorvaldsson to level the game at 1-1.
In the second half, Swedish midfielder Noa Williams restored Kongsvinger’s lead in the 67th minute, but the visitors struck again in the 83rd minute, this time through Marius Broholm, sending the match into extra time.
Rosenborg completed their comeback in the 105th minute when Iver Fossum netted the decisive goal to seal their place in the quarter-finals.
Despite the loss, the match marked a personal milestone for the 24-year-old Taylor, who has now made six appearances for Kongsvinger this season, scoring once.
