The first player to come to many Phobians mind at the mention of a name, Emmanuel or Osei or both combined is the club’s legend Emmanuel Osei Kufuor, the GENERAL, they call him because of his success during his time at the club.
The midfield-general, Osei Kufuor was at the heart of midfield for the Phobians when they won the Club’s only Champions League trophy and Confederation Cup respectively with the CAF Super League trophy coupled with back-to-back-back Ghana Premier League titles.
After Osei Kufour’s success with the club, another Emmanuel Osei ‘Obour’ became a household name in Ghana Football when he established himself as one of the finest defenders in the country during his time with Accra Hearts of Oak and quickly became fans favorite because of his dedication to the course of the Rainbow Club.
Now let get to Emmanuel Osei, No, not Osei Kufuor or Obour, this time a young and enterprising winger with huge talent who plays for Asokwa Deportivo SC in the Ghana Division One League in Zone Two.
The 18-year-old versatile forward was a target for the Phobians last season before the 2019-20 season was truncated and would be a perfect fit for the new coach Samuel Boadu to solve Hearts of Oak’s problems on the wings.
At age 18, Emmanuel Osei has established himself as one of the most important and crucial player at the Division One League side, Asokwa Deportivo SC with his consistent performance in the league.
Osei, at age 16 two years ago in the NC Tournament in Ghana scored three goals and provided seven assists amounting to ten (10)goals involvement in the club’s success in the Tier two competitions.
In the truncated season last year, the youngster provided five assists and banged in four goals in all competitions in just nine appearances for the Allah is Great team.
Fast Forward to this season and despite being on the sidelines in the early stages of the campaign, Osei has managed to create as many as nine goalscoring chances in his few appearances and has two assists in the league despite the struggles the Asokwa-based club is facing in the league this season.
With his ability to go past his markers with cheeky ease and his eye for goal alone makes him the right-winger who could bring to end the problems of the Rainbow Club lacking a typical winger who can provide an end product to create and give more assists as the team pushes for a title at the end of the season.
The youngster brings speed with accuracy and also has a big heart for big games as he exhibited against Kumasi Asante Kotoko SC in last season’s FA Cup clash between the two teams which was won by the Division One League side Asokwa Deportivo with a 2-1 comeback win over the Porcupine Warriors.
Osei, 18, has the ability to hold onto play in difficult situations to take the pressure off his team and is destined to reach higher levels in the game and with a young and dynamic coach, Samuel Boadu at the helms of affairs at the club, Hearts of Oak and Osei could end up being a perfect match made in heaven.
The youngster would bring a new and fresh hopes for the present and future of the club as he’s still young to carry the club through thick and thin to bring back the excitement believe into the Hearts of Oak setup and his inclusion could urge the team on to win their first trophy in over a decade.
