Leeroy Owusu was in scintillating form on Friday evening, starring in Odense Boldklub’s (OB) 4-2 win over Esbjerg fB in Round 32 of the Danish 1st Division Promotion Group at the Nature Energy Park.
The Dutch-born Ghanaian defender played a pivotal role in OB’s dominant first-half display. He provided the assist for the second goal in the 21st minute with a pinpoint cross that Luca Kjerrumgaard headed home. Just eight minutes later, Owusu got on the scoresheet himself, finishing smartly into the bottom corner to make it 3-0.
Kjerrumgaard had already opened the scoring in the 18th minute, capping a blistering start by OB, who went into halftime with a commanding three-goal lead.
Esbjerg mounted a spirited second-half response with goals from Lucas From and Tim Freriks, but any hopes of a comeback were dashed when William Martin added a fourth for OB late on.
Owusu completed the full 90 minutes and impressed throughout with his energy, attacking intent, and defensive discipline. His latest contributions take his season tally to three goals and eight assists from 26 appearances.
Friday’s victory also extends OB’s dominance over Esbjerg, with 19 wins in their last 32 encounters.
