Dr. Tony Aubynn, Chairman of the Domestic League Committee, has raised concerns about the number of venues used for Ghana Premier League matches.
He’s of the view that some of these stadiums do not meet the required standards and should not be hosting league games.
“The number of league venues in Ghana should be reduced to ensure proper coverage and security control,” Dr. Aubynn stated. According to him, having too many venues makes it difficult to manage security and provide quality media coverage.
He pointed to Ivory Coast as an example, saying, “Until recently, only four stadiums were used for the Ivorian league.” This, he explained, helped improve organization, security, and overall match quality.
Ghana currently uses several venues across the country, allowing more communities to enjoy live football. However, Dr. Aubynn believes that reducing the number of stadiums will lead to better security, improved coverage, and a more professional league setup.
