German-Ghanaian defender Derrick Köhn is on the verge of completing a move to Bundesliga side 1. FC Union Berlin, with Sky Germany reporting the transfer as a done deal.
Union Berlin have reached full agreement with Galatasaray, following earlier personal terms agreed with the player. The deal is worth just under €5 million and includes a 20% sell-on clause.
Köhn, 26, is expected to sign a contract running until 2029 after undergoing his medical today, Tuesday, August 19.
The left-back arrives with solid Bundesliga experience, having impressed on loan at Werder Bremen last season where he made 27 league appearances, scoring two goals and providing two assists.
Born in Hamburg, Köhn came through Bayern Munich’s youth academy before featuring for Willem II in the Netherlands, Hannover 96 in Germany, and later Galatasaray in Turkey. His move to Köpenick marks a return to the Bundesliga, this time in Union Berlin colours.
