- FC Union Berlin have confirmed the signing of Derrick Köhn on a permanent transfer from Galatasaray. The 26-year-old left-back has put pen to paper on a four-year contract, committing his future to the Bundesliga side until 2029.
Köhn, who spent last season on loan at Werder Bremen where he featured in 30 Bundesliga matches, arrives at the Stadion An der Alten Försterei with valuable top-flight experience. His attacking style of play, characterized by pace, overlapping runs, and a keen eye for goal, has made him one of the most exciting full-backs in German football.
A product of Hamburger SV’s youth academy and later Bayern Munich’s U23 setup, Köhn has steadily developed into a modern left-back capable of impacting both defensively and offensively. His ability to push forward and contribute in the final third will add an extra dimension to Union Berlin’s play as they continue to establish themselves in the Bundesliga.
Speaking after signing, Köhn expressed his excitement at joining the club: “Union Berlin is a special team with great fans and ambition. I want to give everything on the pitch and help the club achieve its goals in the coming years.”
Union officials also hailed the transfer as a strategic step to strengthen the squad, with Köhn expected to be a key figure in their defensive line while offering attacking depth on the flanks.
