Ghanaian attacker Davis Mensah found the back of the net as Mantova mounted a strong comeback to secure a 2-2 draw against Palermo in Serie B’s Round 26 at Stadio Renzo Barbera.
Palermo took the lead in the 26th minute when Valerio Verre unleashed a brilliant right-footed strike from outside the box, sending the ball curling into the top corner. However, Mantova responded swiftly after the break. Just seconds into the second half, Federico Artioli delivered a perfect through ball to Mensah, who calmly slotted a right-footed shot into the bottom corner to equalize at 1-1.
In the 57th minute, the visitors took the lead when Fabrizio Brignani powered home a header from a well-placed Salvatore Burrai corner. However, Mantova‘s advantage was short-lived, as a defensive mistake led to a penalty for Palermo in the 68th minute. Joel Pohjanpalo stepped up to confidently convert the spot-kick, bringing the game back to level terms at 2-2.
Palermo’s woes increased moments later when Pietro Ceccaroni was shown a red card for violent conduct, leaving them with ten men. Despite the numerical advantage, Mantova could not capitalize and secure a winner.
With no team having registered a win in their head-to-head meetings, this match ended in yet another draw between the two sides.
