Black Princesses head coach Yusif Basigi does not want to have overweight players on his team when Ghana takes on Guinea-Bissau next month during the First round of the 2021 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup qualification tournament.
The team is currently based in Cape Coast where they started light and individual training on Monday.

The tournament was originally scheduled to be held in August-September 2020 by Costa Rica and Panama as the 2020 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup. However, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, FIFA announced on 3 April 2020 that the tournament would be postponed and rescheduled.
On 12 May 2020, FIFA announced that the tournament will be held between 20 January – 6 February 2021, subject to further monitoring.
Two tickets are available for Africa for the tournament finals and Basigi and his girls are poised to pick one of the tickets.
“The long stay in the house has affected the players and that’s why we are taking our time to reduce their weight but it should be on a slower pace” Basigi told the GFA website.
“We will be doing that till the end of this week before we go into individual ball game. The players will be doing strength and power as well, so that they can rest the next day because we are going to work on the lower and upper extremities and as a result of that, they need about 24 hours rest before we do recovery.” he added.
