Asante Kotoko’s new head coach, Abdul Karim Zito, says he remains fully committed to leading the club in the race for the 2024/25 Ghana Premier League title, despite their current position on the league table.
Appointed recently following the departure of Prosper Narteh Ogum, Coach Zito got off to a positive start by guiding the Porcupine Warriors to a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Aduana Stars in his debut match.
Looking ahead to their high-stakes clash with rivals Hearts of Oak this weekend, Coach Zito expressed strong belief in his team’s ability to stay in the title chase. Kotoko currently sits fourth on the table, six points behind leaders Bibiani Gold Stars.
In a pre-match interview with AKSC Media, he stated, “We are focused on getting good results. Those results will shape our chances. I won’t boldly say we will win the league, but we will definitely fight for it. Until the final day, I won’t lose hope.”
He further emphasized the importance of consistency and determination in the title race, adding, “We are still in it. We’re pushing hard, and as long as we keep winning, anything is possible.”
The much-anticipated Super Clash between Hearts of Oak and Asante Kotoko is scheduled for Sunday, May 4, at 3:00 PM at the Accra Sports Stadium. Fans from both sides will be hoping for a thrilling contest as the season edges closer to its conclusion.
