Samuel Eto’o, the former Cameroon international striker and football legend, has been accused of alleged involvement in a match-fixing scandal.
According to L’Equipe, the Cameroon Football Federation President (FECAFOOT) is implicated in match-fixing after reportedly promising to promote a specific club to the first division in Cameroon.
In audio recordings from January 2023, Eto’o allegedly states, “Opopo must go up to the first division. That is our goal. It’s our Federation. There are four of us, you and 2 others. Victoria United will go up.” A few months later, the club, which had actually be . . .

Several months later, Victoria United, a club at the bottom of the table, was promoted after Stade de Bertoua, which was second in the league, was declared a general withdrawal by FECAFOOT.
Samuel Eto’o retired from international football in 2014, having played 118 games for ‘The Indomitable Lions’ and scoring 56 goals.
The 42-year-old striker retired from club football in 2019, having played for renowned clubs such as Real Madrid, Barcelona, Inter Milan, Chelsea, Everton, and others. With four league titles and three UEFA Champions Leagues, Samuel Eto’o was one of the most decorated strikers in Cameroon’s football history.
After retirement, he became the President of the Cameroon Football Federation on December 11, 2021, and was also appointed as an Ambassador for the FIFA World Cup 2022.
Eto’o played in four World Cups for Cameroon, appearing in eight matches and scoring three goals. He also won a Gold medal in the 2000 Summer Olympics and two Africa Cup of Nations.
Furthermore, there are allegations that someone is trying to sabotage the career of goalkeeper Andre Onana, who is on the verge of joining Manchester United. Onana left the Cameroonian team’s camp at the FIFA World Cup 2022 due to personal differences with the management.
