Ghanaian forward Caleb Ekuban struck deep in added time to rescue Genoa from defeat in their Serie A clash with Como at the Stadio Giuseppe Sinigaglia.
Como had taken the lead midway through the first half when Nico Paz unleashed a precise 25-yard strike that left Genoa’s goalkeeper with no chance. The early breakthrough gave the home side the advantage heading into the break.
After halftime, Genoa pressed relentlessly in search of an equaliser. Como’s goalkeeper Jean Butez produced several outstanding saves to keep his side ahead, showing sharp reflexes to stop a series of dangerous efforts from the visitors.
Genoa’s persistence, however, finally paid off in stoppage time. Ekuban, introduced to add firepower, pounced on a late opportunity inside the box and fired past Butez to make it 1–1.
The late strike sent the travelling Genoa supporters into raptures and ensured the visitors left with a valuable point. Despite conceding at the death, Como can credit Butez’s heroic goalkeeping for keeping them in the contest for so long.
