Black Stars of Ghana head coach, Charles Kwablan Akonnor has reportedly receive an outstanding salary payment of seven months, according Black Stars management committee chairman, George Amoako.
There had been speculations that Akonnor was yet to be paid by the Ghana Football Association for the job he has done for the past seven months since taking over the national team.
However, George Amoako has denied such reports, addressing them as ‘false’, while also confirming that the former Kumasi Asante Kotoko gaffer has received for the past seven months contrary to the reports.
“The statement of CK Akunnor been owed is false and that’s the fact,” the Black Stars management committee chairman told Angel 102.9 FM in an interview.
“He has been paid 7 straight months.”
With the head coach’s arrears now sorted, attention will be turned towards the Qatar 2022 World Cup qualifiers, which begins next month – with Ghana playing South Africa and Ethiopia in the first two games.
