Sunderland have completed a big move on transfer deadline day as Ajax striker Bryan Brobbey is set to join the club. The deal will see the 22-year-old forward replace Marc Guiu, who has returned to Chelsea after his loan spell.
The agreement between Sunderland and Ajax is reported to be worth €20 million as a fixed fee, with an additional €5 million in add-ons. Brobbey is expected to undergo his medical shortly before being officially announced as a new Black Cats player.
Brobbey, who has Ghanaian roots, has been a standout striker in the Dutch Eredivisie and is seen as a powerful addition to Sunderland’s attack. His pace, strength, and eye for goal are qualities that the Championship side believe will boost their chances this season.
The move is regarded as a major statement from Sunderland, showing their ambition to fight strongly in the league and build a squad capable of competing at the top level.
With this signing, Sunderland fans will be looking forward to seeing Brobbey lead the line and bring his European experience to the Stadium of Light.
