Kurt Okraku, the President of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), has officially announced his intention to run for re-election in the upcoming GFA elections.
Okraku made the announcement during the 29th GFA Ordinary Congress held in Kumasi on Monday, where he expressed his unwavering commitment to continue leading Ghana football. The crowd responded with a standing ovation and chants of “Long Live Kurt,” showcasing their support for his candidacy.
The upcoming GFA elections, set to take place in October, will determine new executives, including the highly contested position of the presidency. With Okraku’s confirmation, the stage is now set for a competitive race, as former GFA Vice President George Afriyie and Kojo Yankah have also declared their intentions to vie for the presidency.
Afriyie, who previously ran against Okraku in the 2019 elections, is viewed as a strong candidate capable of challenging Okraku’s leadership.
The upcoming elections are expected to draw significant attention from football enthusiasts and stakeholders, as they hold the key to shaping the future trajectory of Ghanaian football.
As the competition for the GFA presidency intensifies, all eyes will be on the candidates as they present their visions and plans for advancing Ghana football. The forthcoming election promises to be an exciting and pivotal moment in determining the future of football administration in Ghana.
