Ghana’s U20 national team, the Black Satellites, have kicked off their preparations in Cairo ahead of the 2025 U20 Africa Cup of Nations.
The team arrived in Egypt on Saturday and wasted no time, holding their first training session as they enter the final phase of preparation for the tournament, which begins on April 26, 2025.
Head coach Desmond Offei led the squad through intense physical drills and football exercises, also using the session to introduce his tactical setup and strategic approach for the upcoming games.
This marks Ghana’s return to the continental youth championship after missing out in recent years. The Black Satellites last featured in the competition in 2021, when they went all the way to win the title under coach Karim Zito in Mauritania.
With the trophy in sight once again, the current squad is also focused on securing qualification for the FIFA U20 World Cup.
Ghana has been drawn into a tough Group C, where they will face defending champions Senegal, the Democratic Republic of Congo, and the Central African Republic.
