Asante Kotoko made a statement in a friendly match against Kumasi Cornerstones FC, defeating the lower-tier side 5-0 in a training game at the Adako Jachie grounds.
The match was part of the Porcupines’ preparation for their upcoming game against arch-rivals Hearts of Oak in the inaugural Democracy Cup.
The game, supervised by assistant coach David Ocloo, saw Kotoko’s players show their prowess as they netted five goals without reply.
Justice Blay opened the scoring, followed by a brace from Bernard Somuah. Baba Yahaya and junior team player Jordan Amissah added the rest of the goals to give Kotoko a convincing win.
The Democracy Cup match between Kotoko and Hearts of Oak is set to take place at the Accra Sports Stadium on Friday at 6 pm.
The encounter promises to be a high-stakes match, with both teams eager to claim the virgin trophy and the bragging rights that come with it.
