Former Black Stars coach, Avram Grant, has lauded the qualities of ex- Sunderland striker Asamoah Gyan, stating he possesses all the needed qualities as a striker.
Gyan, 34, made his debut for the senior national team in 2003 and has gone on to become the country’s all-time top scorer with 51 goals in 109 appearances.
The former Al Ain star, also possesses the record of the most goals scored by an African in a world cup tournament (6).
During his sparkling career, Gyan made the CAF team of the year three times and clinched the BBC African Footballer of the year in 2010.
Grant coached Asamoah Gyan from 2014 to 2017 where the striker scored a number of goals for him in friendlies and AFCON competitions (2015 and 2017).
“Asamoah Gyan had one of the biggest qualities I have ever seen in my life because he has everything as a striker,” the Israeli trainer said in an interview.
“He has the passion to score, he can score with his feet [and] his head. He is very good mentally. I’m sure you remember the 2015 AFCON game against Algeria – the goal he scored in the last minute.” The former Chelsea manager added.
Gyan is currently unattached after the expiration of his contract with Indian side Northeast United.
