Ghanaian attacking midfielder Augustine Boakye has shared his enthusiasm for joining Saint-Étienne following his summer transfer.
The French Ligue 1 club announced his signing from Wolfsberger over the weekend. The 23-year-old has agreed to a four-year contract with an option for an additional year.
The former WAFA standout expressed his excitement on social media, writing, “Can’t wait to get started,” in response to a post from the club on Twitter.
Last season, Boakye was a standout performer in the Austrian top-flight, scoring nine goals and providing six assists. He was among the top-performing Ghanaian players.
He is Saint-Étienne’s fourth signing of the season, following the arrivals of Yunis Abdelhamid, Ben Old, and Zuriko Davitashvili.
Boakye aims to make an immediate impact in their pre-season opener against Clermont on July 20.
Saint-Étienne, having earned promotion back to Ligue 1, is focused on strengthening their squad to ensure survival in the top flight next season.
