Asante Kotoko has offered to extend the contract of Ugandan forward Steven Mukwala, according to a report filed by Kessben Sports.
Mukwala’s current contract with the Porcupines will expire at the end of this season. However, a report from the Kessben Sports Desk indicates that Mukwala has received a new contract offer from Kotoko’s management and has reportedly agreed to extend for one year, pending discussions with his agent.
The Ugandan forward joined Asante Kotoko in August 2022, signing a two-year deal with the Porcupines that included an option for renewal.
Club administration manager Emmanuel Newton Dasosberi suggested in a recent interview with Kessben FM that Mukwala might leave Kotoko at the end of the season due to high demand from clubs outside Ghana.
With just two games remaining in the 2023-24 Ghana Football Season, Asante Kotoko has reopened negotiations with Mukwala for an extension, despite the offers he is attracting from some top African clubs.
On Monday, Mukwala flew to Uganda to join his national teammates as they prepare to face Morocco in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.
Before leaving Kumasi, he was presented with a new contract offer by Kotoko, which he assured he would review with his agent before making a final decision.
