Legon Cities Marquee signing Asamoah Gyan says the Ghana Premier League side cannot be considered as strong title contenders immediately following the massive transfer activity of the Accra-based side ahead of the new season.
Elvis Opoku has joined themf rom Aduana Stars whilst former Techiman City and Asante Kotoko playmaker Baba Mahama is also on their books.
“You cannot say the team will win the league just like that. In football you can assemble all the best players in the world but if you do not have a strong team made of these best players you will hardly win anything big” Gyan said in an official interview with the club.
“I have seen that the club has signed many players and those I have met here they are good but there are still lot more they need to be taught and that is why I am here.” the record Ghana goalscorer added.
“And so for the league title we will have to start and after couple of games we can properly assess the chances of this team in terms of the title race” Gyan said.
Legon Cities open their Premier League account against Berekum Chelsea at the Accra Sports Stadium on Saturday 14th November and Gyan is expected to feature.
